21 wall decor bedroom ideas, Trends & Tips For 2023

Looking for wall decor bedroom ideas? Don’t miss out on these stunning bedroom decoration ideas to take your bedroom design to the next level!
A bedroom should be a haven of peace and tranquillity, yet many individuals struggle to achieve this through design and decoration.
I’ve included advice for combining each of the 20 popular bedroom decorating trends below, as well as some of my favourite pieces to shop each theme.

1. Luxurious bedding

With retreat-worthy bedding, you can create a tranquil hideaway in the comfort of your own bedroom. This bedroom style is all about luxurious bedding, and who doesn’t want more of it?
Consider pristine sheets and an extremely soft duvet that will make you feel as if you’re sleeping in a 5 star hotel.
Choose a heavier fabric, such as flannel, for the cooler months and a lighter fabric, such as linen, for the summer. Quality bedding may be more expensive at first, but it will keep you wrapped in comfort for years to come!

2. Knit throw blanket

Fortunately for anyone who enjoys cuddling up with a throw blanket, this bedroom trend isn’t going anywhere!
Don’t forget to add a nice throw once your bedding is in place! These may be switched out annually, and I’m currently obsessed with the look and feel of this thick knit blanket.
Casually hanging a throw blanket at the foot of your bed is an easy way to add texture to your bedding.

3. Under bed storage

Whether you have a large or a tiny bedroom, there are little actions you can do to minimise bothersome clutter. For example, make use of the space under your bed.
These wicker baskets are ideal for storing linens or out-of-season apparel. The attached lid prevents dust from gathering, and the wicker material adds texture to the environment without making it appear cluttered.

4. Modern ceiling fan

When it comes to bedroom lighting fixtures, modern ceiling fans are more popular than ever.
Many individuals prefer to sleep with the gentle breeze of a fan, and fortunately, there are numerous models that are both elegant and functional. This is the finest of both worlds!

5. Shiplap feature wall

Shiplap has been making waves in recent years, and the trend is expected to continue in 2022. Shiplap accent walls are as popular as they have always been, and for good reason!
A wood accent wall adds aesthetic interest as well as a splash of natural texture to a room. An accent wall pulls out the greatest style of a room, whether the shiplap boards are left raw, painted, or stained.

6. Bold paint colors

Ultimate Gray and Illuminating were the Pantone Colors of the Year for 2021. (a bright yellow). This informs me that a combination of neutral and strong paint colours is becoming more fashionable.
This year, expect to see a lot of bright paint hues, such as warm yellows, greens, and pinks.

7. Extra-long lumbar pillows

Extra long lumbar pillows are currently trending, which means that if you’ve never been a lover of 2,947 pillows on your bed, now is your chance to shine with one statement throw pillow.
I’m a fan of the over-sized lumbar pillow trend since it keeps the cushion arrangement on the bed simple while still looking put-together.
Proof that the simplest decor items may have the most impact.

8. Leaning mirror

If your bedroom is large enough, you should have a huge mirror lying against the wall!
A floor-length mirror on the wall serves obvious practical advantages, such as a last-minute outfit check before heading out the door. It does, however, reflect light, making the room appear larger and brighter. It’s a win-win situation.

9. Rugs with multiple layers

If you have wood or similar hard flooring material in your bedroom, an area rug surrounding your bed is essential for providing warmth and cosiness to the space. Even if your bedroom is carpeted, a contrasting area rug is a terrific way to add interest.
If you really want to get into this trend, pile a tiny rug next to your nightstand atop the larger rug under your bed to add some more texture and offer your feet somewhere nice to land in the morning.
You can keep the colours delicate and modest while yet layering in the charm, whether it’s high or low pile.

10. Canopy beds

Canopy beds are something I’m starting to see more of. A canopy bed supports a bedroom’s decor, adds height, and offers a focal point to adore.
How adorable is the fanciful canopy bed in the top image? This is a fantastic trend!

11. Blackout drapes

Bedroom windows often require window treatments to provide seclusion, but with so many fabric possibilities, your curtains can also turn even the brightest bedroom into a dark cave when the sun rises before you’re ready.
If you already have curtains that you like, consider blackout liners, which can hook to the lining on the back or hang on a separate rod behind and give you more control over how much light comes in.

12. Wallpaper that is removable

Removable wallpaper is quickly becoming a trendy new design trend. I understand. Wallpaper is a trend that you believed would never return.
Wallpaper is a simple design element that adds texture, colour, and pattern to your bedroom. And it does it without occupying any prime real estate.
The removable option makes it far more user-friendly for when you wish to change the look later on.

13. Large-scale artwork

Now is the moment to show off all of your lovely large-scale artworks.
Above the bed, a single huge piece or a group of two or more frames can fill out what is nearly always a blank space in the room.
To avoid an awkward river of space between the two, hang artwork above the bed at least a foot above the tallest point on the headboard.

14. All the plants

Make 2023 the year you begin or expand your plant collection.
Plants, whether enormous fiddle leaf fig trees or small air plants, offer an organic aspect to a place. They not only bring beauty to your home, but they also enhance the air quality, which is always a good thing.
Plants are an excellent finishing touch that can completely transform a bedroom.

15. Nightstand pretties (and essentials)

The stuff on your nightstand should be both lovely and functional. Some of the objects might simply be decorative and add to the overall look of the area, while others should be functional and aid in the organisation of your needs.
Finding a nice balance will provide that just-right sensation to your entire room. A completely naked nightstand will seem sterile; one that’s disorderly and overfilled will look cluttered.

16. Fun hardware on dresser/nightstands

While we’re on the subject of nightstands, if you’re sick of your present nightstands (or dresser), consider changing up the hardware rather than replacing the entire item!
This is a simple and inexpensive solution, and there are many lovely drawer pulls to select from.
Mix it up to create a more intriguing and “designed” look.

17. A bench at the foot of the bed

Make use of the empty space at the foot of your bed by adding some extra chairs.
Keep it simple with a conventional bench, or add texture by arranging two ottomans next to each other.

18. Hat wall

Do you need a simple way to store your hats? Hang them on wall hooks to try out this bedroom design trend!
There is always a focus on making the bedroom a place in the house that is used for more than just sleeping. Displaying hats on the wall does just that, drawing your eye up and adding a quirky aesthetic element to the space.

19. Wall sconces

Nightstand lamps have been around for a long time, but they must make way for the built-in wall sconce. They are incredibly modern and sculptural, and they emit such beautiful soft ambient light.
To free up your bedside surfaces and instantly boost your bedroom design, try wall-mounted sconces or hanging pendants.

20. Bold headboard design

If the thought of a huge, bold headboard makes you cringe, 2022 might be the year you reconsider.
A headboard, whether tufted velvet or rustic wood, will create an eye-catching focal point while adding an extra layer of texture to that finished look.
A standalone headboard is another simple approach to achieve the look of a bed without the cost or size. So, if you’re searching for a low-cost approach to make a big effect in your space, give this bedroom trend a shot.

21. Color Scheme in Monochrome

This year, monochromatic colour schemes are all the rage! Use a single colour and embellish with various variations to obtain this bedroom colour scheme (or shades of the same color).
