Hallandsås (also called Hallandsåsen)

Horsten (hill/mountain) was created by parallel formations 80 million years ago and, like the other horstars in Scandinavia, it is positioned in the north-south direction. The route is from Hov’s Hallar in the city of Båstad and Örkelljunga.

The highest point is located in Högalteknall, 226 metres above sea level. This is a military term of reference. Horsten is 5 to 10 kilometres wide and 40 kilometres long. Linderödsen continues Hallands’ endeavour in southwest.

Due to land use and zoning restrictions, one may no longer drive on the E6/E20 highway south of Halland’s Lake before reaching the eastbound Karups Motorway. Grains between the landmasses of Halland and Skåne travel first across Skåneleden around 9 kilometres south of the current location.

In current times, crossing Hallandsåsen is considered to be a somewhat difficult task, and several accidents have occurred there. Hallandsåsen was also one of the strongest among snapphaners in the latter half of the 1600s. As a result, throughout the 1800s, groups of people travelled over one another while remaining stationary at their respective sides until they formed a sizeable, cohesive group to go forward[2].

In Laholms municipality and farther out in Bjärehalvön in Båstads municipality, there are several natural areas designated as protected areas. Pennebo, Musikedalen, Matkroksmossen, Tjuvhultskärret, Björskra-Bölinge, Osbeck’s bookshops, Halland’s north, Englandsdal, and Bjärekusten’s natural reserve are a few of them.
